And it seems we’re not alone, with The Telegraph reporting that the headline-grabbing duo are breaking with tradition in their wedding cake request. According to a “source close to the couple” (isn’t it always?), “This will be the first royal wedding cake made from bananas.”
Adding fuel to the fruity rumour is former royal chef Darren McGrady, who has been previously quoted as saying the Prince loves “anything with banana… banana flan, banana ice cream.”
Former royal chef Darren McGrady has spoken about baking caramel and banana cake for Prince Harry.
But the real key to the couple’s penchant for bent fruit may lie in a cryptic Instagram post from Meghan, who sent tongues wagging about her then unconfirmed relationship with the prince, when she uploaded this quirky message back in November 2016.
We can only hope that whatever cake flavour they choose, it stands the test of time, much like that slice of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor’s wedding cake Elaine had her way with.
