Fans of McDonald’s have found a new home online where creative cooks are challenging each other to replicate Maccas menu items at home – and some of them are seriously impressive.

The Homemade McDonald’s group was created by Joe Cornell after his McDonald’s look-alike meals gained serious kudos in another Facebook group.
‘I would upload some of my Macca's meals and members thought they were pretty funny,’ Joel told Broadsheet. ‘So I made a group and invited some friends but didn't expect people to post stuff.’
The group has since exploded and now has over 20,000 members who have to meet strict criteria to have their Macca’s mimics published.
Food must be from the McDonald’s menu (not including the “Create Your Taste” menu, that’s just cheating, apparently), and limited time menu items are welcome. The post must include a recipe, a rating out of 10, and a bite photo.
The group is also vegan-friendly and will allow posters to substitute plant-based ingredients in traditional Macca’s menu items, as long as the end result still looks the part.
We might not be able to buy a legit Halloumi Muffin outside of Arabia, but with the help of Homemade McDonald’s we might be able to have a taste right here at home!
