These Chinese tarts are a great recipe for when you want a little something sweet, but nothing too big! With ready-rolled pastry sheets, they're easy to make.
⅓ cup sugar
½ cup water
2 egg yolks
⅓ cup cream
2 frozen ready-rolled shortcrust pastry sheets
- Place sugar and water into a saucepan and stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Simmer 1 min. Allow to cool. Whisk in eggs and additional egg yolks with cream.
- Cut frozen pastry sheets into 10cm rounds with a cutter. Push into the 12 bases of a standard muffin tin. Divide filling between cases. Bake for 15-20 min, then stand for 5 min.
