KFC is officially working on what will be the first vegetarian fried chicken to be available at a fast food chain.
It will include the secret blend of 11 spices that all their chicken is seasoned with.
“The development of the recipe is still in its very early stages, and so the options we’re exploring in our kitchen are still top secret,” a spokesperson for KFC told Foodbeast.
They hope that their meat-free creation offers “the great taste of KFC to new and existing customers who are changing their dining habits."
"Once we’ve perfected the recipe we aim to test with customers this year, and if all goes well, we hope to launch a new vegetarian option in 2019.”
If the testing is successful, it will be available in UK KFC stores – and if they love it, fingers crossed we’ll eventually get to try it here in Australia, too. After all, we missed out on Japan’s KFC-scented bath bombs and China’s chicken-scented nail polish – it’s about time Aussies’ love of KFC was acknowledged!
